Menstruating During the Aries Solar Eclipse: A Cosmic Rebirth

Have you ever noticed how your menstrual cycle aligns with celestial events? If you bled during the Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse, this wasn’t random—it was a cosmic rebirth and initiation.

The universe speaks to us in cycles, and menstruation is one of the most intimate ways we attune to these rhythms. When your period coincides with an eclipse—especially in a sign as bold and transformative as Aries—it marks a profound moment of release, rebirth, and self-discovery.

Join me as I unpack what this all means. (And yes, I’m currently menstruating.)

Aries, Eclipses & the Sacred Cycle of Menstruation

To fully grasp the significance of bleeding during this eclipse, let’s break down the energies at play:

🌑 New Moon: A time of new beginnings, planting seeds, and inner reflection.

🔥 Aries Energy: Ruled by Mars, Aries represents independence, courage, and self-sovereignty. It embodies the warrior archetype, pushing us to reclaim our power and act on our desires.

🌘 Solar Eclipse: Eclipses amplify energy, bringing karmic lessons, revelations, and dramatic shifts. They accelerate endings and beginnings, often in unexpected ways. This eclipse illuminated ancestral patterns, generational curses, and the balance of masculine and feminine energies (Libra/Aries axis).

💧 Menstruation: A physical and energetic release, shedding old layers to make space for renewal. It is a sacred time of intuition, rest, and deep transformation.

When these forces combine, they initiate a cosmic reset on both personal and spiritual levels.

Sacred Anger, Emotional Awakening & the Ritual That Found Me

If this eclipse stirred feelings of being unheard, unseen, or misunderstood—especially concerning masculine figures or authority—you’re not alone. Aries energy is deeply tied to personal agency and self-expression, and this eclipse may have unearthed wounds around being dismissed, overlooked, or undervalued.

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon (emotions, intuition, Mother, feminine) overshadows the Sun (ego, external identity, Father, masculine). This represents deep-seated emotional reactions interrupting our Ego’s goals. When ancestral patterns resurface, we must pay attention to what is being revealed.

For me, the eclipse energy manifested in a conversation with my father. He brought up the idea that I should “settle down,” find a husband, and focus on having children—the whole mainstream narrative. You don’t even know how triggered I was. His words unearthed painful memories, reinforcing a pattern I’ve experienced with authority figures and male partners. A pattern that women in my lineage have carried for generations.

That’s when I noticed something: the connection between Pallas (Athena) and Jupiter.

Athena, born fully armored from Jupiter’s (Zeus’) head, symbolizes intellect, strategy, and divine wisdom. Unlike Ares, the brute-force warrior, Athena mastered war through strategy and justice—hello, Libra! What fascinates me most is that Zeus never subjected Athena to marriage or romance—she was free. As I sat with this realization, I saw myself in her.

Since healing is non-linear, I gave myself space during this eclipse to grieve—for myself, for the feminine, and for those who have felt unseen and unheard.

So, what did I do?

The Ritual: Blood, Water & Rebirth

On the night of the eclipse, I drew a bath. This was the first time I had ever bled and bathed at the same time. Initially, I thought it might feel strange or even unsettling, but I knew there was significance in it—Spirit was calling me into a ritual.

Every bath reminds me of the womb—a safe space where life begins. Each time I return to the “womb” of water, I integrate something new. This time, it was a REBIRTH.

As I soaked, I noticed the faintest tinge of blood in the water. It wasn’t just a bath—it was a baptism, a ritual of surrender. With every drop that left me, I shed more than just my body’s lining. I released stories that no longer served me, echoes of old wounds, and the weight of expectations I never chose to carry.

Salt from my tears mixed with the Epsom salts in the water. My body, encapsulated by my own blood—**the blood of my ancestors—**merged with the water, like rivers joining the sea. One carried the release, the other the renewal. Together, they made me both the ending and the beginning.

I breathed deeply. I softened. I surrendered.

And as I rose from the water, droplets trailing down my skin like remnants of the past, I knew—I had been reborn.

Our Emotions Are Sacred Messengers

Being a Libra with a Libra stellium, Aries energy has always felt uncomfortable for me. But this two-year portal of eclipses in Libra and Aries has been transformative—especially with Aries ruling my 8th house of deep transformation.

This eclipse reminded me that the fire we feel can be Holy Rage.

📖 Excerpt from my journal during my Aries Solar Return Moon:

As a Libra with a Libra stellium I've experienced something time and time again. I have also witnessed it with many other Libras or people who have strong Libra influence in their charts.

There is this fundamental desire to maintain peace and harmony, so much so that it's often times it is at our own expense because we think we're doing someone a favor. When in reality we are just cheating ourselves the opportunity to be REAL, fully expressed and getting our needs met.

When this becomes realized and we catch on to any injustices of the situation, our pendulum swings the other way to our sister sign Aries. But, in a more suppressed and subdued way. Rage and fierce independence that leads to further detachment and distanced connection.

Being real can also become a weapon, a weapon disguised as safety. We find ourselves engaging in egocentric entitlement because we feel threatened. A weapon that is wielded without regard and a bit of recklessness due to the pain, shame or guilt that has arrived before us.

Then reality takes another hit by making it known that being too real can also sabotage the very thing that we deeply desire: connection with others. And so it begins the journey of Libra as the scales, forever seeking the balance of me versus we and understanding how to wield that weapon. Becoming intimate and unconditional with the fire, the anger and the holy rage within.”

🔥 Anger: A sign that your boundaries have been crossed.

💧 Sadness: The deeper wound—perhaps an old pattern of not feeling validated.

🌿 Liberation: The realization that your worth is not tied to external validation.

This eclipse is urging you to own your power, speak your truth, and stop seeking approval from those who were never meant to validate you.

Leaning into Strength & Independence

Bleeding during an eclipse is a spiritual initiation into radical self-trust. Aries teaches us that independence is not isolation—it’s sovereignty.

💡 Reflective Questions:

  • Where have I been silencing myself to keep the peace?

  • How can I embody more courage in expressing my needs?

  • What limiting beliefs about my power am I ready to release?

💡 Integration Practices:

📝 Journaling: Write down what you’re releasing and what new energy you’re calling in.

🌀 Somatic Release: Shake, dance, or scream into a pillow to move stagnant emotions.

🔥 Aries New Moon Ritual: Write down a limiting belief about your worth, burn it, and declare a new empowered truth.

Final Words: The Rebirthing of You

Menstruating during an eclipse is not just a coincidence—it is a cosmic alignment with the soul’s evolution. This is a time to step into power, shed outdated identities, and embrace a new era of self-trust, independence, and fearless expression.

🌑 Affirmation: I am my own source of power. My voice is heard. My presence is undeniable.
